Alan Mark started Tae Kwon-Do at 16 years old, in his early twenties was one of the top Tae Kwon-Do competitors in the United Kingdom. In his years Alan has amassed an impressive haul of medals and trophies. He was part of the Scottish and British team on numerous occasions, representing his country at European and World Championship level. Within the United Kingdom he has excelled but also took the continent by storm. As an individual Alan has competed in Switzerland, Germany and North Korea. Mulheim, Germany, was the location for one of Alan’s greatest triumphs, where after numerous bouts he defeated the reigning German national champion for a magnificent Gold medal in the under 79 kg division. Proving undoubtedly that he was one of the leading exponents of Tae Kwon-Do in Britain.
At national championships he succeeded at every level from blue to blackbelt. His achievements in the sparring divisions, ranging from middle to heavy weight, were second to none. Also winning medals in the pattern divisions he proved his talents to be wide spread.
Now retired Alan currently holds the rank of second degree, an accolade in itself. He trained at every possible opportunity in the Black Belt Academy under Master Sutherland and he frequently attended blackbelt squad training for the national team all over the country.
